Membrane Packaging

Maximum protection against shocks, vibrations and falls: Membrane boxes are ideal for fragile products or sensitive electronics!

Membrane packaging is the ideal solution for shock-sensitive goods

The shipping process poses a risk for all products. Before shipping, traders can hardly estimate what external influences their items will be exposed to during transport. Vibrations, shocks, falls and much more can sometimes cause a great deal of damage and ensure that certain items do not reach their destination intact. Electrical goods in particular require special protection, because even padding does not always deliver what it promises. The idea behind membrane packaging was as simple as it was sensible: the product should be fixed inside the packaging, preventing any contact with the outer wall of the packaging. The product is in suspension, so to speak, which means that it should not be affected by improper handling of the carton.

Membrane cushion packaging offers the best protection

Membrane packaging usually consists of three parts. In the end, it is the interaction of the only components that provides the unique protection of this packaging solution. In addition to an outer carton, two highly elastic films are used. These films are designed to be particularly non-slip, so that the product can be stably suspended between them. An important role is then played by the design, which leaves a hollow space around the film. The resulting hollow space thus offers ideal protection for the packaged goods. Known cushioning materials such as bubble wrap or packaging chips can thus be dispensed with. Impacts are not only cushioned here, but made impossible. The elastic film follows every movement and contact with the harder outer carton is avoided. Conclusion: This well thought-out design consistently protects every item from impact or breakage.

Eco-friendly thanks to reusability

Many traders are concerned because they fear that membrane cartons will make complaints and returns difficult. Yet the cartons are reusable if handled correctly and can be used to return goods without any problems. The membrane does not have to be damaged when opening the package, because the product can be removed easily. If the customer is dissatisfied with the goods for any reason, they can be returned re-packaged, as with other parcels. It is an advantage that our membrane packaging can withstand several shipping routes. If the packaging is to be finally disposed of after its service, this is also no problem. The packaging can be disposed of unseparated in the waste paper.

Membrane boxes at a glance:

  • Highest protection in case of impact or vibration
  • Free-floating product shipping
  • Scarce storage volume
  • No additional cushioning or filling material required
  • Reusable
  • Easy handling saves time
  • High-quality appearance
  • Available for many standard sizes of equipment

Choose the right membrane packaging for your product

Membrane packaging is not only extremely safe as a packaging solution, but equally flexible. This is particularly interesting for companies that would like to reduce their packaging costs. Reducing the variety of packaging materials is always a good first step. Membrane packaging fulfilled many requirements and can thus replace many alternative cardboard boxes.

Membrane cushion packaging as fixing and protective packaging

We offer membrane packaging made of corrugated cardboard, although plastic alternatives can also be found on the market depending on the industry. Above all, it is important to find the optimum packaging solution for your individual application and to be able to fix and protect the desired product with the help of the membrane. Membrane cushion packaging made of corrugated board can be used for products weighing up to 35 kg. This is consistently protected by the floating transport of the goods. Traders for whom space-saving storage of packaging materials is important also frequently use membrane cartons. In contrast to alternatives made of foam, the storage volume is greatly reduced. Another plus is that there is no need for cushioning material.

Multiple applications for membrane packaging

Membrane packaging is not only regularly used in mail-order and online trade, such as by online shops or logistics service providers. Other industries have also long since discovered the advantages of the practical cardboard box.

Possible areas of application include:

  • Online trade
  • Automotive industry
  • Repair service (e.g. electronics, TV, mobile phone, etc.)
  • Control and regulation technology
  • Telecommunications
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Fine mechanics
  • Medical engineering
  • Shipping service providers and dealers
  • And many more

Many of these areas of application rely on particularly gentle shipping due to sensitive goods. It can be fine electronics, but also a spare part for the car. In any case, it would be fatal if this sensitive product were to suffer damage during the shipping process. Fortunately, membrane packaging is the perfect solution because it absorbs drops, shocks and vibrations better than any other packaging material. You even save on padding materials.

Packaging membranes correctly for optimal protection

As a rule, every membrane packaging includes three parts. Two inserts made of corrugated cardboard with the so-called membrane film as well as the matching outer carton. Most important, however, are the membranes that give the carton its name. It is a stretch film that should completely enclose the packaged goods to keep them in suspension, so to speak. The non-slip nature of the film ensures that the product is fixed in place during transport.

How to pack your product

Handling the membrane carton is very simple and self-explanatory in its application. You first fold the outer carton and the membranes together properly. Now you can already insert the lower membrane into the packaging. The product is placed on the membrane. Make sure that you place the product as centrally as possible on the foil in order to have the greatest possible distance to the outer carton on each side. Now put the upper membrane including the insert over the product. It is desirable that the film fits tightly around the packaged product. Once you have achieved this, the carton can be closed and the goods prepared for dispatch. It is very important that you do not fill the outer carton with unnecessary items before closing it. While padding and filling materials are incredibly important and indispensable in conventional packaging, here they only create unnecessary pressure and friction on the product, which should rather be avoided instead. Instead, rely on the protective function of the membrane. The only thing you should do is seal the box well with adhesive tape so that the membrane inserts inside cannot slip and end up endangering the product. Temperature- and weather-resistant adhesive tapes are recommended here, as they promise a good hold even in extreme situations.
