The dimensions & classes shown apply to shipping with dpd from Germany. DPD parcel classes: XS, S, M, L and XL. All parcel classes from S to XL are available for domestic and international shipping

For parcel classes XS to L, the size refers to the sum of the longest and shortest side. The XL class is defined by a maximum girth of 300 cm.

Basics
DPD distinguishes the parcel sizes XS, S, M, L and XL. For sizes XS to L, classification is based on the sum of the shortest and longest side of the box. Only for XL parcels does the girth apply – that is, length + 2×width + 2×height.
Choose a carton size that matches your product dimensions as closely as possible – this helps avoid empty space and unnecessary shipping costs. Make sure there is still enough room for cushioning material to reliably protect your products.
The girth is only relevant if you are shipping a parcel in the XL class. It must not exceed 300 cm. For all smaller parcel sizes (XS to L), it is sufficient to add the shortest and longest side.
DPD Classic offers delivery directly to the recipient’s doorstep. With Shop2Shop shipping, the parcel is dropped off at a DPD ParcelShop and also picked up from a shop. The latter is cheaper but limited to smaller sizes and a maximum weight of 20 kg.
Dimensions, Weight & Prices
DPD divides parcels into different size classes (XS to XL). When dropped off at a ParcelShop, the maximum length is 100 cm, and the girth must not exceed 250 cm. The weight limit is 20 kg. For home collection, more generous limits apply: up to 175 cm in length, 300 cm girth, and 31.5 kg in weight.
You calculate the girth using the formula: length + 2 × width + 2 × height. This specification becomes relevant for parcels in size XL. If the girth exceeds 300 cm, shipping with dpd is no longer possible.
The dimensions of your box determine the shipping class – and therefore the price. For XS to L, the sum of the longest and shortest side counts. Only for XL does the girth become decisive. Choosing a box that is too large means paying unnecessarily more.

Shipping Options & Services
Yes. When your parcel is picked up directly from your home, you benefit from higher limits for weight and size. This is especially worthwhile for larger shipments. However, home pickup is slightly more expensive than drop-off at a parcel shop.
Parcels may be up to 100 cm in length and weigh a maximum of 20 kg. In addition, the girth must not exceed 250 cm. Anyone who stays within these limits can ship at the lowest rates with the Shop2Shop tariff.
Yes. Business customers benefit from higher parcel volumes, more flexible rates, and individual terms. Private customers can send a maximum of 10 parcels at once via the online service.
A suitable box saves real money. The better your box matches dpd's requirements, the cheaper the shipping. At the same time, it protects your goods better and reduces the risk of transport damage.
