What shipping rates does the GLS Group offer and how big can my parcels be?

Here you can find the right packaging to send your goods as cheaply as possible according to GLS rates. Unlike most other shipping providers, the different shipping rates are only classified according to size. Suitable GLS carton dimensions enable safe and inexpensive shipping - insured and with shipment tracking.

With shipping in GLS cartons, you can send your goods with tracking and transport insurance up to 750 euros. Whether you choose the XS shipping option or the XL rate, the maximum weight is the same for all shipping rates and is 40 kg, as is the amount of insurance. The dimensions of the box are decisive for the rate at which your parcel is sent. The longest and shortest sides of your parcel are added together.

For the parcel to be sent as GLS Paket XS, the sum of these two sides must not exceed 35 cm (costs € 3.50), for the delivery option Paket S, the sum of both sides must not exceed 50 cm (costs € 4.30), if the longest and shortest sides of the parcel together are 70 cm, you are sending the Paket M tariff (costs € 5.40). When sending GLS Paket L, the total dimension of both sides is up to 90 cm.

Parcel XL is an exception. With this rate, the longest and shortest sides of the parcel are not added together. Instead, the so-called circumference is decisive, which may not exceed 300 cm. The circumference is calculated as follows: (width + height) x 2 + length. Finally, if you are using GLS shipping, your parcel must not weigh more than 40 kg. Length, width and height must not exceed 200 cm, 80 cm and 60 cm respectively, and the circumference must not exceed 300 cm.

A box made of high-quality and moisture-resistant corrugated cardboard with at least two layers will protect your packages optimally. Sufficiently large boxes have enough space for the load and the inner padding. When packing the package, make sure to protect surfaces, corners and edges. Only use used cardboard boxes for insensitive items.

A secure closure is a prerequisite for safe transport. Wrap the shipping box with tape and seal all sides securely. The heavier or larger the package, the stronger the packing tape must be. Fill all the cavities inside completely with cushioning material. Securely fix the product in the package. Match the filler exactly to the goods you are shipping. For heavy and shock-sensitive loads, it is advisable to use custom-made EPS mouldings. You can wrap light goods in bubble wrap so that there is no direct contact between the product and the outer packaging of the package.

Always attach the shipping label to the largest side of the package. Remove old labels or return labels. Send correctly packed parcels individually, as each parcel gets its own label. Please note the maximum weight and maximum package size for all shipments.
