Paper adhesive tape
Paper adhesive tape: the ecological alternative
Adhesive tape made of paper is the ecological alternative to the usual plastics. Comparable in its resilience to normal parcel tapes, it can be disposed of together with the cardboard in the waste paper - a mortal sin with adhesive tapes made of plastic; because the plastic residues have to be removed during recycling before the paper can be recycled. The labour required to remove such residues is not inconsiderable and affects the economic viability of the system.
Since the problem of disposal lies with the recipient of a consignment of goods, shippers often give little thought to this issue. Instead, for cost reasons, they often deliberately use adhesive tape made of PVC or PP film, which then usually simply ends up in the waste paper together with the box. Yet the costs for recycling paper and cardboard could be noticeably reduced if the 'raw material separation' were anticipated at the shipping stage - for example, by using paper adhesive tape, which is itself made from waste paper. In the long run, this and similar measures could reduce costs - and ecologically, of course, you are also doing something good: every gram of plastic less in the environment is good for nature.
And that alone is a good reason to switch to paper tape!
