Q: What is a hinged cardboard box?
A: A hinged carton (also called an 'automatic bottom' bos) is a packaging from the group of folding cartons. These are packages that are delivered flat-folded and must be unfolded before the goods are packed. Unlike conventional folding cartons, e.g. the widely used FEFCO 0201 type, the bottom of the carton is already glued, so it can be used immediately after unfolding.
Q: How does the self-adhesive lid work?
A: An adhesive strip is attached to the front edge of the lid, which is covered by a protective folil. After peeling off the foil, the lid is pressed against the box underneath, which makes it firmly closed.
Q: What are the advantages of this cardboard box?
A: Convenience and time saving: You do not need any additional adhesive tape or strapping during packing and you are finished with the packing of the goods much faster. For private customers, the advantage is mainly in the convenience; large companies, on the other hand, appreciate the fast processing in the warehouse.
Q: How expensive are hinged cardboard boxes?
A: They are slightly more expensive than normal packaging because of the more complex production process. Individual customers are happy to accept this for convenience; online retailers with large shipping volumes can keep costs down with our graduated prices. However, time is money, too; so hinged cartons probably pay for themselves.
