Buy Cardboard 120x60x60: Discover versatile packaging boxes in large sizes

Shipping packaging can be made from a variety of materials and many mail order companies already eliminate plastic from their packaging. Cardboard packaging is the packaging material of choice and is available in many sizes. Folding cardboard boxes with a high load capacity are available in various versions, the cardboard box 120x60x60 cm, which is also used as a moving box, is particularly popular. You may not need to buy a box too often, but 120x60x60 are standard dimensions that you have probably heard of. The packaging materials ensure safe product transport and are suitable for shipping large goods. When choosing the right shipping packaging for heavy goods, you should consider not only the outer dimensions but also the inner dimensions. Where can I get a cardboard box 120x60x60? The various advantages of the 120x60x60 cm box are explained in more detail below. We also tell you where you can buy the cardboard box 120x60x60.

A stable structure with dimensions of 1200 x 600 x 600 millimetres ensures maximum safety during shipping and storage

The cardboard box for shipping is available as a convenient folding box 120x60x60 cm (1200x600x600 mm), whereby this specification always refers to the outer dimension. The products are made of corrugated cardboard, for example, and are available for purchase in 3-wall, 2-wall or 1-wall versions. The 2-corrugated folding cartons are interesting for heavy goods and can theoretically withstand loads of up to 40 kg. A sturdy cardboard box 120x60x60 is popular for cardboard packaging and many shipping service providers have adjusted their postage rates to this. If the 120x60x60 box is strong enough, i.e. multi-wall, it is the perfect size for shipping heavy and bulky goods: the dimensions of a 1200x600x600 box are usually sufficient for shipping large objects, such as furniture or bicycles. Due to its long edge of 120 cm, it can hold many different items, so even larger box dimensions are only very rarely needed. It usually has an internal dimension of 118.6x58.6x57.8 cm. If heavy as well as large goods are being shipped, then it is advisable to purchase cardboard boxes that are designed for high loads.

The corrugated cardboard folding boxes are equipped with foldable lid and bottom flaps according to FEFCO 0201. The articles are delivered flat and space-saving by the manufacturer. Setting up a folding carton is very easy and can be done quickly. If you are looking for suitable DHL dimensions, you will find them in the 1200 x 600 x 600 mm folding box. The articles can be purchased in large quantities.

The 60x60x120 cm shipping carton is extremely stable - its areas of application are correspondingly diverse, for example as a transport and moving carton

The boxes can be used universally and are used for shipping and storing products. The cardboard box, which is mainly made of corrugated cardboard, can be used in the single wall version for storing articles, for example. If you want to ship heavy and large goods, you should buy a 2-wall 60x60x120 box. In the trade, 2-wall folding cartons are available that have been produced according to FEFCO 0201 and can be easily closed. Adhesive tape or packing tape is usually used for sealing. The folding cartons are available in brown and ensure safe transport of goods.

A 120 60 60 cm box is particularly suitable for the safe transport of large items. The cardboard boxes are available in multiwall versions and have suitable DHL dimensions. With the right padding, heavy goods are transported from A to B shockproof. To ensure safe shipping, the goods to be shipped should be packed according to regulations. Folding cardboard boxes enable optimal packaging according to regulations and can be closed easily and securely.

A cardboard box 1200x600x600 mm can also be used as a moving box. Often such a moving box is 120x60x60 cm and thus offers enough space for all your belongings. Its sturdy outer cardboard reliably protects the contents from sometimes hasty transport. With a moving box measuring 1200x600x600 mm, you are well prepared for your move.

Where can I get a 1200 x 600 x 600 mm folding box for DHL shipping?

To send a 60x60x120 box with DHL and keep postage costs as low as possible, the cardboard boxes should have suitable DHL dimensions. With the right dimensions, postage costs are calculable and can be assigned to certain price levels when shipping. DHL determines the postage costs by a mixture of edge lengths (exact) and the girth of a parcel. Parcels weighing up to 5 or 10 kg, for example, are assigned to a specific postage category exactly up to the dimensions of the box 1200 x 600 x 600 mm, above which an additional charge applies. The maximum possible girth in this postage category is 300 cm. If a parcel exceeds the specified girth, a bulky goods surcharge may apply. If you want to send DHL parcels weighing up to 31.5 kg, you can also get the right box 120 60 60 and find it in the postage calculation in the corresponding DHL parcel segment. How do I find out the right postage rate and where can I buy shipping labels? You can do both with the postage calculator on the DHL website.

Be aware of the internal dimensions of folding boxes 1186x586x578 mm

If you are looking for a 60x60x120 cm box on the Internet and cannot find what you are looking for, you should change the order of the dimensions: Because most of the time the box 60x60x120 is named with the dimensions 120 x 60 x 60, so first width, then height and depth. But you can also try the millimetre measurements, so enter something like 120 x 60 x 60 cm box in the search mask. Don't be misled by the common misnomer 60x60x120 carton! Folding cartons for large and heavy goods are available with internal dimensions of 1186x586x578 mm, for example.

What do the FEFCO codes 0201 and 0203 mean?

FEFCO is the European association of corrugated cardboard manufacturers, originally called Fédération Européenne des Fabricants de Carton Ondule. The abbreviation of this association led to the well-known term FEFCO. In modern times, this association is called the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers. The association is a non-profit organisation that primarily represents the interests of corrugated board manufacturers. The organisation was founded in 1952 and has its headquarters in Brussels. The association introduced the so-called FEFCO code, which is still used today to standardise corrugated cardboard packaging. The 120x60x60 box is manufactured according to the FEFCO standard: According to FEFCO 0201, it has internal dimensions of 118.6x58.6x57.8 cm and is suitable for the transport of heavy as well as large goods in a 2-corrugated version. The FEFCO code consists of four digits that describe the basic packaging type (first two digits) and the design (last two digits).

FEFCO 0201 is the best known FEFCO code and refers to folding boxes with butting lid and base flaps. A folding box with bottom flap and lid flap can be optimally sealed with adhesive tape. The 02 in the code refers to the folding box and the 01 characterises the design with bottom and lid flaps.

FEFCO code 0203 also refers to folding boxes. However, the articles have a different design than the packaging with FEFCO code 0201. The lid and base outer flaps are fully overlapping, while the lid inner and base inner flaps have a centrally abutting design. Shipping packages according to FEFCO 0203 have additionally reinforced corrugated cardboard layers and are considered very stable.

What qualities of cardboard are available in the shops?

Folding cartons such as the 120 x 60 x 60 cm carton and other cartons are made of corrugated board and are used for transporting and storing goods. In Germany, about two thirds of the goods produced are packed in folding cartons and transported to their destination. The mail order business is constantly increasing due to online orders. The goods must be shipped safely from A to B and should be optimally protected from impacts, moisture and pressure. Corrugated board can absorb shocks and withstand a certain load. The transport load a folding carton can withstand depends on the carton thickness and the carton quality.

Cardboard quality designations

Corrugated board is available in the form of purpose-built cardboard boxes. Folding cartons, fixation packaging and other shipping materials made of corrugated cardboard can be purchased. The cardboard boxes should be durable and able to withstand various compressive and impact forces. However, the stability of quality folding cartons is not only on the outside. Shock, pressure and puncture forces also act on the inside of the package and with the right folding carton quality, damage to the goods being transported can be avoided. The cardboard boxes should also be protected against compression due to collisions when transported on pallets. The resistance of the edges to impact, the so-called edge crush resistance R, is an important purchasing factor for folding cartons and high-quality articles are also suitable for transport on pallets.

In the trade, a distinction is made between 1-wall cardboard boxes and 2-wall and 3-wall folding boxes. The number of corrugated paper layers is indicated by a number combination. The number combination is made up of three digits and also indicates the possible surface load in kilograms. The first digit stands for the number of layers of the corrugated paper. The second and third digits indicate the approximate possible weight per unit area in kilograms.

The different corrugation thicknesses

The 1-corrugated folding cartons are used for shipping goods that are only exposed to low transport stress. 1 flute cardboard boxes are commercially available with the quality designations 1.10 to 1.40. A single wall folding carton can be used as a storage carton, for example. For transport, however, multiwall cartons should be used.

2 flute folding cartons are loadable and are used in qualities from 2.20 to 2.70. The 2-wall cardboard boxes can withstand high transport stress and are accordingly suitable for medium to high transport loads. However, there are also 3-wall cardboard boxes that are even more stable.

A 3-wall folding carton is designed for a high transport load and has a high edge crush resistance. Furthermore, 3 flute cartons can withstand high puncture forces and are used, for example, for heavy transport goods and for transport on pallets. Attention, cartons with three layers of corrugated paper have a misleading designation: The cartons are also indicated with 2 as the first digit, although more than two layers of corrugated paper are used. The 3-corrugated boxes are available in categories from 2.90 to 2.96. The articles are used for extreme transport loads, for example.

A sturdy 1200x600x600 box is almost always double or triple corrugated, because heavy shipping goods are usually packed in it, the weight of which would cause a single corrugated 1200x600x600 box to tear too quickly and damage the shipping goods.

How are corrugated cardboard boxes made?

Corrugated shipping boxes are widely used and require the use of corrugated paper. Corrugated paper is made from either semi-chemical pulp or fluting. Corrugating medium is composed of recycled fibres and can be used as fluting paper. Half pulp paper is composed of half pulp fibres and recycled paper. Corrugated board is made into stable packaging in special technical processes. In the production of cardboard boxes, liner and corrugated papers are glued together. Several layers of corrugated paper can also be glued together.

Technical production process and finishing

Corrugated board was patented as early as 1871 and developed by Albert Jones (USA). The inventor was looking for light, stable and inexpensive packaging materials. He discovered that gluing together corrugated and smooth paper webs results in a stable construction. The packaging strength is mainly achieved by the corrugated paper web.

To produce stable cardboard, the base paper is moistened and then heated. This process makes the material malleable and elastic. The elastic paper is given a corrugation by heat, pressure and two corrugating rolls. Starch glue is then applied to the corrugation and the paper is glued together with a blanket web. Multi-corrugated cardboard is subjected to the above process more often. Single flute cardboard is given another layer of liner paper on the other side.

Corrugated cardboard packaging is refined by a coating (impregnation) and can be protected against moisture, for example. Plastic coatings, varnish or wax layers can be used as finishing materials. Depending on the material used for the finishing, the cardboard can be flame-retardant, grease-resistant, abrasion-resistant, non-slip or water-repellent. There are also finishes that result in rot resistance.

What are the advantages of corrugated board packaging?

Shipping packaging made of corrugated board is available in postage-optimised DHL dimensions and is characterised by stability as well as resilience. The articles can not only be used for shipping goods, but are also suitable for storing products. Regardless of whether a folding box made of corrugated cardboard is used as a storage box or shipping box, the quality and properties of the article should be taken into account when purchasing. 3-wall cardboard boxes are excellent for shipping heavy goods and have a very high edge crush resistance. This means that the 3-wall shipping materials are suitable for transport on pallets. 2-wall folding cartons are suitable for medium to heavy goods and can also be used as storage cartons or for shipping. 1-wall items are intended for shipping light goods and are used for storage.

The cardboard boxes are available as modular packaging and can be easily palletised. Fast palletisation is not the only positive aspect of modular packaging. The shipping materials are also ideal for international transport and are used, for example, on lattice trucks and containers. The corrugated cardboard can be reintroduced into the material cycle via your local waste paper system. If you do not need DHL dimensions and are looking for specific sizes, you can also order cardboard boxes made to measure.

Corrugated cardboard has a high bursting strength. This means that cardboard boxes made of corrugated cardboard show a high resistance to increasing pressure and do not burst so quickly. Bursting strength is an important property for flat materials. Flat materials include films, papers, textiles and corrugated cardboard. The bursting strength of corrugated board is specified in the RAL regulations and in the DIN 55468 standard. Corrugated board for shipping should meet certain regulations and standards. When buying, it is advisable to keep an eye on the quality criteria in order to find the right packaging material.

What is meant by variable height folding boxes?

Cardboard boxes can be purchased in variable height versions. The items are adjustable in height and can be adapted to the packages. In this case, the folding cartons are equipped with additional folding perforations that allow them to be adapted to various filling heights. These so-called additional grooves are marked ZR in the product description.

Order-picking packaging and shipping packaging that is variable in height is used flexibly: for example, to use the lowest height, the lid flaps of the cardboard box are scored with a cutter knife up to the required additional score.

What types of corrugation are distinguished?

Packaging made of corrugated board such as the 120 x 60 x 60 cm box usually has a sine wave. This is considered very stable and is used for almost every quality of cardboard. There are eight types of corrugated board. Of these eight types, fine flute, ultra-fine flute and medium flute are the most commonly used. 1 flute folding cartons, for example, are made of fine flute. For 2 flute items, combinations of medium flute and fine flute or ultra-fine flute and fine flute are used. The combination of corrugation types results in the best possible stability and should provide a high load capacity of up to 40 kg per shipping box. The different flute types are also used to safely stack goods in a folding carton. Corrugated board cuts can be used to separate products from each other in the shipping carton. The different flute types are identified by their flute height and flute pitch. There are DIN dimensions to distinguish between the flute types.

Which uncorrugated liner paper is used for corrugated cardboard boxes?

Uncorrugated paper is combined with corrugated board and is called liner paper. Three different types of liner paper are used: testliner, schrenz and kraftliner. The liner papers are important for the board quality and should be of high quality.

Testliner linerboard is made from recycled fibres and is mixed with pulp content and waste paper. High-quality recovered paper (T1) or lower-quality recycled paper (T2 or T3) is used. Testliner is cheaper than kraftliner. On the other hand, testliner has a lower wet strength and bursts more quickly than kraftliner ceiling papers.

Schrenz ceiling papers are made from waste paper and are used, for example, as intermediate or interior ceilings. Schrenz ceiling paper is rarely used for outdoor applications. This variant is available at a comparatively low price.

Kraft liner ceiling papers are long-fibred and consist of fresh fibres. The kraft pulp is optimally protected against tearing and bursting and gives the cardboard additional resistance, which is welcome for longer transports and fragile contents.
