In addition to the dimensions of the S parcel (shortest + longest side up to 50 cm) the material of the box also plays a role. For light products a single-wall box is sufficient, heavier goods and merchandise are better packed and protected in transit in a double-wall box. Match the size of the packing cartons to the contents as much as possible. In other words, the box is ideally only slightly larger than the products being packed and shipped. When packing, there should be room for padding, especially if you are sending fragile items.

The dpd Parcel M for transporting medium to heavy loads

Although dpd does not distinguish between parcels and packages, the parcel service offers five different parcel sizes: XS, S, M, L and XL parcel. This means that the right parcel for shipping with dpd is available for every product. Brown transport boxes with internal dimensions of 390 x 390 x 285 mm are ideal for storing and transporting medium to heavy loads. Double-walled boxes can carry up to 20 kg with even weight distribution in the box. The dimensions of the shortest and longest sides must be up to 70 cm for dpd's M parcel.

The extra-large parcel XL up to 31.5 kg total weight

The German parcel service groups shipments by parcel size (excluding air freight), whereby the smallest size only applies to delivery and collection at the parcel pick-up point. By girth, the parcel service means the parcel length plus twice the height and twice the width in centimetres. The total may not exceed 300 cm (250 cm for online payment and delivery to the parcel acceptance point). The maximum length of the longest side is 175 cm (100 cm for online payment and delivery to the processing centre).

Note: The maximum weight of the boxes must not exceed 31.5 kg.
