Stuffing parcels with filling material: Our parcel cushioning is safe and sustainable

Filling material for parcels is necessary in many areas in order to safely send, transport or store goods and products by post. There are various cushioning materials and you can buy suitable parcel filling material for every purpose, with which goods can be packed shockproof and any cavities can be filled. If you frequently send goods, you should not only consider the protective function, but also the appearance and environmental protection. The better the parcel filling material looks, the better the recipient's unpacking experience will be. Whether using the filling material to cushion parcels sustainably, pack them securely or wrap them inexpensively: With parcel stuffing from Verpacking, all three goes. You can reliably protect parcels and packages with our cushioning material.

Equally important are materials that are environmentally friendly and recyclable and at the same time contain no toxins. Whether kraft paper, packing paper, air cushioning or packaging chips, the parcel cushioning material is an excellent accessory for shipping, should be dimensionally stable and easy to dispose of.

Many customers nowadays attach importance to sustainable packaging of goods, and the choice of cushioning materials is versatile. A large number of retailers are now responding to this customer demand and sending every parcel in environmentally friendly packaging. Where do they buy this environmentally friendly packaging? We'll tell you.

Make shipping safe with cushioning material - so shocks and moisture can no longer harm your items

It's obvious that padding material can protect parcels. But hardly anyone knows what exactly is behind it. Parcel filling material is a material that has a protective and cushioning function at the same time. It can consist of various raw materials that are environmentally friendly and facilitate disposal. Every day, many parcels pass through the various stations of the shipping route, while goods are transported and stored almost everywhere. Not only the actual packaging as a cardboard box is important, but also a secure outer packaging and the inner packaging adapted to the goods contained. They are what really cushion the goods in the package.

Some products require wrapping in tissue paper, corrugated cardboard or wrapping paper for safe shipping, others are additionally padded so that they cannot slide back and forth in the box. Often, less delicate goods also need to be padded to prevent damage and to ensure shock resistance and cushioning.

In transit, care cannot always be taken to handle a shipment as carefully as possible. Even with the imprint "Caution fragile", there is no guarantee that the parcel packaging will arrive safe and sound. On the contrary, shipping packages and stored products are frequently thrown and are constantly exposed to shocks. Expensive transport damage remains annoying. What can remedy this? You have to cushion your package. But you can easily prevent damage: The best thing to do is to ask us for advice. In addition, you should only buy parcel cushioning material from professionals.

A high-quality parcel cushioning material provides more stability and eliminates cavities, while cushioning materials absorb shocks and vibrations. There is a choice of different padding thicknesses. The protection provided by suitable package filling enables the quality of a good to be maintained, even if no visible damage occurs.

Many goods are wrapped in packing paper and shipped in a cardboard box. For others, the conventional parcel cushioning material is not sufficient and additional air cushions or air pillows are needed to fill cavities inside the parcel. Sensitive goods require more elaborate packaging with cushioning materials, packaging chips or shrink-wrap paper. For products that are to be stored for a longer period of time, suitable outer packaging makes sense. In the warehouse, it is also worthwhile to use package cushioning material that promotes the longevity of stored goods, such as shredded paper that protects against moisture. A strong cardboard box is not always enough to protect the goods from cold, moisture or shocks. Package padding material as an accessory guarantees a firm hold, prevents the contents from slipping and helps to cushion and secure the goods well.

Filling materials fix products in their packages, preventing slippage and damage

Today, parcels hardly ever go on their way without parcel cushioning material. This is necessary simply because possible damage is to be prevented and sensitive goods are to be secured. Parcel filling materials and cushioning materials have different tasks. Parcel filling materials are intended to fill cavities and angles, fix goods in place and coordinate the packaging of the parcel with the contents. They are suitable for shock-sensitive products, light and heavy goods and also goods that already have their own packaging.

You can buy many different types of parcel filling material. Some of the best known are wrapping paper, packaging chips, tissue paper and wrapping paper. Packing chips have the advantage that their nature protects the goods regardless of size, type and shape, and at the same time they are so light that there is no extra weight in the box. Many filling materials are able to absorb moisture and provide maximum cushioning protection.

Cushioning materials protect goods from shocks and impacts, fix them in the carton and prevent them from slipping. At the same time, they fill the gaps so that the carton does not sag or different goods can collide and be damaged. Cushioning materials are suitable for sensitive goods, heavy goods and non-packaged goods.

Air cushioning, film, paper cushioning and air pillows are commonly used. Such cushioning materials also prevent heavy products from vibrating when they are transported by vehicle, for example. It should be borne in mind that even high-quality packages with wrapping paper are subject to a certain amount of wear during transport by car, ship or plane. Additional securing with padding and parcel filling material is generally recommended, which can also be stylish and environmentally friendly at the same time. The materials are resistant, can often be reused or easily disposed of and allow long-term cost savings.

Goods are not only shipped, but often also stored. This requires packaging that is also weather resistant, absorbs moisture and provides additional security for fragile items. Few products can be stored directly in their own packaging. As a rule, bulk buying takes place, where the goods are stored in larger quantities and are then immediately ready for sale. Here it is important that the products are separated from each other in their packaging to make them easier to remove or to prevent quality deterioration.

Package filling is particularly suitable for sensitive goods and protects them from cold, heat and moisture

Filling and cushioning materials offer many advantages for transporting goods safely and protecting them from impact and damage. They also have an insulating function and protect against cold, heat and moisture. Package cushioning material secures fragile goods, fills nooks and crannies and secures goods inside the package. It prevents scratches and wear, ensures surface protection and prevents the quicksand effect during transport.

It is suitable for wrapping products and as an intermediate layer, can be used flexibly and can be reused to save costs. If you have been able to buy package filling material, proper packaging is no longer a problem, and the goods can then be easily removed or stored.

How to cushion and secure your products with suitable filling materials

There are various options for fixing and cushioning products and goods. It makes sense to select the appropriate parcel cushioning material based on the type of goods in question in order to fill gaps and corners or to stabilise sensitive corners and edges.

On the one hand, it can be practical to completely restrict the movement of the goods, on the other hand, some products require a certain amount of clearance. The choice of filling material also depends on the size and weight of the goods to be transported. The packaging of heavy goods that need to be additionally stabilised is complex. Sometimes material is needed that cushions or can be folded and crumpled.

Even environmentally friendly strong paper, silk paper or wrapping paper is not automatically more expensive

There are filling materials that are suitable for packaging but are not recyclable and therefore not environmentally friendly. These are not necessarily cheaper than organic materials such as kraft paper, tissue paper or wrapping paper, but they do generate considerably more waste. Accordingly, it is important to use high-quality filling material for parcels that can be reused on the one hand and does not have to be used in excessive quantities on the other. Popular choices are corrugated cardboard rolls and paper pads, which are environmentally friendly, or bubble wrap, which allows for further use.

For smaller packages, it is worthwhile to use many smaller pads and to work with little filling. This pleases the recipient, who has less to dispose of. For large cavities, it is worth using more parcel cushioning material or working with large cushions. If you have to buy parcel filling material all the time, environmentally friendly and recyclable materials are particularly useful, including paper, corrugated cardboard or packaging chips made from corn starch.

Why you should also cushion in addition to stuffing parcels

It is often said that extra parcel stuffing material is bad for the environment. But that doesn't have to be the case! Using our filling material to cushion parcels sustainably and protect goods is not difficult at all. But it is important, because the padding material serves a significant purpose.

Different packaged goods need the individual protection they deserve during shipping, storage and transport. Sometimes it is enough to pad the parcel packaging, sometimes additional padding must be added to ensure that the goods are adequately secured. Dull and sharp-edged corners, a high weight, easily breakable goods or sensitive surfaces require expedient outer packaging that necessitates filling or padding.

If it is necessary to prevent vibrations, shocks and impacts, compression pressure and vibrations, padding is required. At the same time, it ensures that products do not slip or rub against each other. It is also useful when several products are shipped in one consignment. Sensitive goods receive targeted protection with firmly fixed padding.

To prevent your goods from being scratched, swinging in an unfavourable way, being subject to temperature fluctuations or slipping during reloading and unloading because the product is smaller than the box, padding with filling materials makes sense. Padding creates buffer zones and cushions the goods. They guarantee a better fixation. Package cushioning material stabilises corners and edges, fills angles, cavities and gaps and secures shock-sensitive products. In addition, it guarantees surface protection and provides a perfect intermediate layer of corrugated board or wrapping paper.

Many companies are already convinced and decide again and again for the filling material package Where do they buy their accessories for packaging? That is also available at Verpacking. We look forward to welcoming you as a new customer.

Heavy products need to be padded and secured

With heavy products it is almost indispensable not only to cushion them, but also to fix them. The filling material for parcels must be correspondingly thicker and more stable. Often, heavy products are particularly vulnerable in the corners and edges and can hit, break or puncture the carton during transport. It is important here to work with fixing inserts, to additionally cushion the product and to ensure edge protection. Kraft paper, corrugated cardboard or air cushions, which provide good cushioning, are very suitable for this purpose.

Where do ceramics and electronics retailers buy the best parcel filling material for shipping their sensitive goods?

Goods that have electronic connections or are easily fragile require particularly effective packaging with filling and cushioning. Packing paper, air cushioning products or cardboard packaging are suitable separators here, while cavities can be filled with packaging chips. Fragile items include computer components, medical products, glass and porcelain. It is important to protect fragile goods from scratches, damage and breakage and to provide additional protection for the packaged goods. Fortunately, you can easily protect parcels and packages with cushioning material and even avoid shipping and transport damage altogether with the right cushioning material.

Which filling materials are best suited for which goods?

Basically, the filling material comes in different materials, while it also differs in density, size and shape. This allows for optimal matching to the goods that are to be packed. Heavy goods require different cushioning materials than delicate goods. The latter include products that contain electronic components, are fragile or sensitive to scratches.

In some cases it is also necessary to ensure that the filling material has as low a net weight as possible so that parcels are not unnecessarily weighed down. Also important are good handling and sustainability, i.e. that it is environmentally friendly and recyclable. High quality means both reusability and better protection of the goods. Environmentally friendly materials also contain no harmful substances or questionable heavy metals and plasticisers.

Recyclable kraft paper is environmentally friendly and suitable for packaging and designing

Kraft paper in rolls is a good choice for packaging and design. This is a thicker and usually brown type of paper that has a higher strength. The paper is usually made from waste paper and can therefore be considered sustainable. It is commonly used for paper bags and sacks as well as for mailing bags and paper tape.

Kraft paper consists of a large proportion of wood fibres and secondary fibres. Softwood and hardwood are often used, so the brown colour can vary. It is recyclable and environmentally friendly, allowing goods to be wrapped or spaces to be filled by crumpling it.

Weighing from 70 g/m2, the paper has a high basis weight and is extremely durable, tear-resistant and stable. The smooth surface is also suitable for labelling or printing. It is useful for packaging sharp-edged or heavy goods. Kraft paper is available in a roll length of 300 m.

Corrugated cardboard on rolls is stable, has an insulating effect and is well suited for transport

Corrugated board on a roll is a tried and tested packaging material and is also suitable for filling and padding. It is corrugated paper with an additional smooth paper web on one or both sides. The corrugated structure allows for greater strength, so the pulp is often used as a transport packaging material. It is strong and light at the same time and can be easily recycled.

The cavities created by the corrugated roll shape have an insulating effect while several layers of paper lie on top of each other. Corrugated board is available with one, two or three corrugated sheets. The structure is always similar, with a smooth cover paper serving as the outer layer and the corrugated paper in between. It can be made of wrapping paper, testliner or kraftliner. The corrugated format absorbs external pressure and distributes the vibration evenly over the entire surface so that no damage occurs.

Corrugated board is well suited for storage and transport and the roll width can be freely selected. It protects edges, corners and surfaces, fills cavities, serves as a temporary shelf or for covering goods. Also very impressive are its high puncture resistance and its high crush resistance. In addition to simple cardboard packaging, corrugated cardboard is also excellent as a pallet liner and sleeve or for packing fragile containers.

Use polyethylene bubble wrap for optimal cushioning of your packages

Bubble wrap is a brilliant packaging material that provides immediate protection for goods. It is wrapped directly around the product and cushions the products during transport. Not only does it fill an empty space, but the goods are completely wrapped and secured in the corners and edges.

It is reusable, dust-free, inexpensive, space-saving, has a low own weight and protects against temperature fluctuations. It is made of polyethylene, which can withstand even high loads and has excellent cushioning properties. No compression or air holes occur during use, while moisture protection is also guaranteed.

Bubble wrap is particularly suitable for shipping lightweight items, electronics or edged products. It prevents electrostatic charging and is available with small or larger nubs. The two-ply bubble wrap in a length of 100 m with a width of 30 m and a dimple diameter of 10 mm is particularly popular.

Mouldable and elegant tissue paper offers protection and cushioning for high-value items

Using tissue paper as a cushioning material to additionally wrap shipping and transport goods is always a good idea. Tissue paper is soft, smooth and malleable, yet much thinner and more transparent than other types of paper. Nevertheless, as a packaging material it does not allow the contents to show through. It is used to pad parcels, boxes and cartons or to wrap goods that are somewhat more sensitive. At the same time, it has a particularly noble appearance and is therefore also well suited for shipping high-quality items.

Especially with porcelain and glass, the malleability is an advantage, while protection and cushioning are ensured at the same time. The tissue paper is available in grey with a thickness of 25 g/m2 and a size of 50 x 75 cm. It is recyclable and environmentally friendly, protecting against shocks and dirt. It is also possible to fill in empty spaces with this type of paper.

Wrapping paper for parcels is made from recycled paper and is particularly environmentally friendly

Wrapping paperis a type of paper that is made entirely from unsorted and recyclable waste paper and is either grey or brown in colour. Therefore, with this filling material, padding parcels sustainably is child's play. The material adapts to any shape and is shock-absorbent. It is suitable for folding and crimping paper and is available in different thicknesses. When it comes to parcel filling that needs to be shaped into the desired form of the goods, wrapping paper is the right choice. Do you want to cushion your parcels in an environmentally friendly way? Can't be done without wrapping paper.

Glasses, plates, cups, glass, ceramics and porcelain can be packed, and as fragile goods they are excellently protected against abrasion, damage and breakage. Wrapping paper is also useful as an intermediate layer for products, books or folders, is suitable as wrapping paper and as a base for renovation work. It has a light weight and can be recycled. As a roll with a thickness of 80 g/m2, the wrapping paper is 250 m x 100 cm long and wide. A smaller version is available with a width of 50 cm.

It probably all started with an internet search for something like "buy filling material package where". Now you not only know where to get it, but you have become a real packaging professional. And if you still have a question, we are always there to help you cushion in an environmentally friendly way.
