How to send mail safely in parcel boxes

To ensure that goods reach the recipient safely, parcels should be packed correctly and efficiently. This includes choosing the right box in the optimal size, as well as other considerations such as secure sealing.

First and foremost, the right packaging should be chosen. At best, this consists of a stable shipping carton with a thickness of at least 4 to 5 millimetres and a visible corrugated structure made of corrugated board. This protects the contents from the effects of pressure. The strength and robustness of the cardboard depends on the weight of the goods to be shipped. One of the smallest possible sizes should always be chosen, in which the contents fit well and there is still about 5 cm of space left for padding. It is possible to use a used shipping box several times. However, it should be undamaged and show no signs of use that would affect its stability. Newer boxes absorb shocks and pressure better than old ones because their air spaces are more intact. The air spaces in the corrugated board act as shock absorbers and cushion pressures and impacts from the outside. Heavy items should be packed downwards and light items upwards in the parcel packaging. The weight should be evenly distributed within the shipping box. The goods should also be packed as compactly as possible so that they cannot slide back and forth inside the parcel. Fragile or sensitive goods should be placed in the middle of the parcel and never against the side walls to avoid damage from external influences.

When shipping products with a liquid or creamy consistency, it is advisable to not only buy the parcel box but also to immediately think of an airtight bag and seal it so that they do not cause any damage should they leak.
